William G. Blum, Esq.

Founder and Attorney

Bill Blum is the founder of Elder Law of Long Island, PLLC, a Suffolk County practice devoted to Medicaid planning, asset protection, and estate planning for families facing the cost of long-term care.

For more than a decade, Bill has helped Long Island families protect their homes and savings while securing care for a parent or spouse. His work centers on Medicaid asset protection trusts, gift and loan planning, chronic care and home care Medicaid applications, and the wills, powers of attorney, and health care proxies that make a plan work when it is needed most. He also handles probate and administration in Surrogate’s Court.

Before founding the firm, Bill practiced elder law and estate planning at established Long Island firms, where he prepared and filed Medicaid applications, drafted trusts designed for Medicaid qualification, and handled residential and commercial real estate closings. He began his legal career as a judicial law clerk in the Superior Court of New Jersey, and later served as a foreclosure mediator for the State of New Jersey, an experience that shaped how he approaches families in financial distress.

Bill was admitted to the New York bar in 2013 and the New Jersey bar in 2015. He earned his Juris Doctor from Rutgers School of Law, a Master of Arts in Public Policy from Stony Brook University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Dowling College.

Bill lives in Sound Beach with his wife, Lauren, and their two children.
